7 RED CROSS LANE

This is where all the courses, self-help classes, talks, groups, individual therapies and other activities of Wallace Cancer Care take place.  This house is a quiet, peaceful haven set in a beautiful, secluded, south facing garden, situated just a few minutes walk from the Oncology department.

Chemotherapy out-patients and their care givers who face long waits during their treatment are able to arrange to come to number 7 and relax over a cup of tea or coffee and a quite chat with other patients or volunteers, safe in the knowledge that their bleeper will summon them back in time for treatment.

The programme is based around self-help, empowerment and mutual support, and aims to provide information, treatments and self-help skills to enable patients to cope with the challenges of treatment and life beyond in their best possible physical, emotional, mental and spiritual state.

Our courses, Getting the Most out of Treatment, a four week programme to help patients prepare for treatment, and Living with Cancer, a six week programme delivered in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Care address a range of these issues.  The programme at Number 7 is run by Sue Potts the Director of Complementary Care.

The information and support programme at Wallace Cancer Care is based around a number of topics which are not necessarily mutually exclusive.  Some elements of the programme fall under more than one heading.  More information can be found by looking at our
